Greetings from Luanshya!

One of the challenges of having the responsibility of caring for an orphanage is disciplining children who have been abused physically. Three of our youngsters have needed disciplinary action in their new schools. Most of the offenses have not been serious, but we are still responsible for training these little ones "Aunty Sherry" had the unpleasant responsibility of chastising our young wards this past week. The difference in Sherry's discipline and what these youngsters have received in the past is the fact that Sherry did not strike them and she spoke to them in love. These kids are still kids. They will need more "Aunty Sherry" talks over the next several years. We pray and ask you to pray with us for their physical, emotional and spiritual growth.

Last Sunday I had an opportunity to speak at one of the older churches in a township just outside of Luanshya Proper. This church has had local leadership since it began many years ago. They don't do things exactly the way we would do things in our church, but they love the Lord and it was exciting to be in the midst. I spoke from Ephesians 5 comparing Christ's relationship with the church to that of the husband to his wife.

A few weeks ago we heard about a young preacher here in town telling people that "you could not know if you were a child of God until you died." I would hate to think that if someone asked my wife if she were really married that she would answer "I won't know until I die." I presented this question to the members of the congregation and told them if they did not know they were a child of God, they probably were not. But, if they gave us an opportunity, we would show them that they could know, beyond a shadow of doubt, they had eternal life. At the end of the service seven people called on the Lord and received Jesus Christ as their Saviour. We are excited about having a part in this ministry in Mikomfwa.

With schools closing early this month to enable examination classes (Grade 7, 9 and 12) to sit, we already find that the Christian Resource Centre is filling up early in the day for those who wish to read and study. Many of those who are able, will enroll in the lessons or continue their lessons during this period since schools will not reopen until mid-January or February. Pray that many souls may be reached through the various ministries of the Christian Resource Centre.

Sherry continues her preparation for Vacation Bible School. She has been delegating responsibilities to her growing team of volunteers (mainly the youth). They will be meeting a couple times a week for the next month learning the songs, hand-motions and various other procedures for the "Great Global Adventure" which begins on December 15. Please pray for her as well as those who will be participating in the Vacation Bible School-both as volunteers and students.

We appreciate your part in this ministry through your prayers on our behalf.

In His Service,

Patrick and Sherry
